How to plan a wedding in 90 days. Wedding Planning. Wedding Planner UK. How to plan a wedding. Where to start wedding planning.

Days 1-30 (First Month)

In the first month after you get engaged you want to be laying the foundations for your wedding planning. So when you first get engaged the natural first step is to announce your engagement to your friends and family! Whether you want to have an engagement shoot and announce that way, or if you want to do a more personal announcement and let friends and family know in person.

After you've announced the happy news to your friends and family, you want to look at getting your ring insured. This is so important because your engagement ring will form part of your wedding ring, so you want to make sure to have this protected -whether you want to have a quick engagement or a long engagement.

Then you can start the fun stuff, AKA the pinterest board. We recommend having only 25 pins on your pinterest board, as this allows you to have a really clear vision that can be conveyed to your wedding planner (us👀). And in this same breath, you want to be discussing your initial vision with your partner - and making sure you're on the same page.

In preparation for the rest of your wedding planning, you also want to make a wedding email account, this will allow you to keep all communications with wedding suppliers in one place and stop the wedding planning infultrating all aspects of your life.

Next you want to start looking at the financials aspect of planning your wedding. Knowledge is power and you can't have the wedding of your dreams without understanding what your budget is. So the first sstep would be to sit down with your partner and set an overall budget. While dicussing this you should also discuss family contributions, and whether you will be having any family contributions and what percentage these will make up of your overall budget. Once you have this, your next step should be opening a wedding savings account.

The next steps after you've done this, would be to start creating a preliminary guest list (using our A,B,C method) - this will be super important for further along in the wedding planning process. Then you want to start researching the average supplier cost, or if you already have any specific suppliers that you know you want, this will be the time to fit them into your budget.

Next up is timeline planning. You want to start by choosing some potential wedding dates that would work for you and your partner. We would also recommend having a discussion with your partner about what season you'd prefer to get married in. It's also important to discuss how long you want to be engaged for. Whether you want to be married in 6 months to 2 years, you need to decide this early on so you know how to start planning your wedding and at what speed you need to make decisions.

Once you have got these steps sorted you can start researching your venues and also looking at what venues are available for your big day!

Then you want to start your initial research phase! This phase always works the best if you have a wedding planning folder, this helps you keep all your planning bits together and organised. Then you need to look into wedding insurance, your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life - so you need to make sure that you're taking care of everything with insurance.

Then we get to the fun stuff! You get to start taking tours of the venues you researched, and really visualise what your big day could look like. When you get to the end of the first month of wedding planning, we would really recommend you consider hiring a wedding planner. Having a planner will make the whole process so much smoother for you, which is exactly what you need before the whole porcess gets really overwhelming.

Your favourite wedding photographers will get booked up really quickly, so we also recommend that you start researching your wedding photographers now, and letting them know your interest super early. Even if you don't have a definite date yet.

Days 31-60 (Month 2)

In the first week of your second month, you want to be very venue focused. So you want to be continuing to tour venues, and comparing the venue packages so that you get the best deal, and everything you want without having to compromise.

You also want to be looking at the logistics of everything and supplier restrictions, especially regarding your venue and your wedding date. You also want to be reviewing all your contracts carefully, before signing and paying anything to ensure the best out of your big day.

The first supplier you should be booking on your wedding planning journey is your perfect venue. And now would be the time to do that (and HOW exciting!).

Once your venue has been booked, you want to start researching your photographers and booking them if you haven't done that yet. Then, depending on if you're venue package has catering or not, you want to start looking at and booking your caterer.

Then you want to start looking at your entertainment options. It's the time to figure out whether you want a DJ, or a live band, or a singer - you need to decide what you want and start doing your research and potentially booking the supplier you love.

Next, you get to start looking at wedding dresses! Now would be the time to start trying on dresses and figuring out your style. At the same time you want to be booking your priority suppliers, so these are the suppliers that will get booked up the fastest. This is to make sure that you aren't disappointed or having to choose suppliers that weren't your first choice!

Days 61-90 (Month 3)

Next up is your design development phase. This is the part of wedding planning that you'll start developing your overall wedding style and choosing your wedding colours. At this point you know what your venue look slike, so you can develop your vision with your venue in mind.

Then you can start dress shopping. By now you should have decided what style of dress you want, so now would be the time that you either purchase your dress, or you start seriously shopping for it. We would also recommend that you start researching florists and looking at the supplier that can truly bring your vision to life.

Then if you haven't already, you want to be looking into accomodation for your guests. This is super important if you want to have a lot of family and friends staying with you, or on site at your venue, if you've chosen a venue that isn't local to you.

Next up is all the details. This would be the time that you start looking at planning your engagement photos if you're having them, and usually you would book this in with your wedding photographer so that you can keep a consistent style of photo throughout. Then to wrap up the first 90 days, you want to start reseraching youe wedding invitations, figuring out your style and how you want ot send out your invites - before moving on to book more of your key suppliers.
